Immobiliser Removal

Nearly all vehicles are fitted with an Immobiliser Security function which due to unfortunate events can sometimes prevent a vehicle from starting. You will be able to see a Yellow Key on your Instrument Cluster which keeps flashing (See Pics).

Common Immobiliser Symptom will be that your car will turn over, but instantly cut out.

This can be due to several reasons:

  • The immobiliser coding is at fault
  • You may have replaced a part in the car which has different immobiliser date on e.g an Instrument cluster.
  • You may have lost your key and the new key you have had cut has not been programmed correctly.
  • The battery in your car key may have been replaced losing all the old key information.
  • You may have had has an electrical surge in the car which could have blown a component in the ECU
  • You may be doing an engine conversion e.g putting a 1.8 Turbo engine into a Golf Mk2.

The list is endless.

However in most of the above cases, the cheapest and most simplest way of getting your car back on the road again is to have the Immobiliser option removed from the ECU – Therefore no more starting issues again! Otherwise, it would mean a big repair bill where you would need to book your car in with the dealer or a specialist to get it fully reprogrammed.
